Design Challenge

OnDemand Software needed a new application icon for their flagship product that could easily be associated with the application in an international market. The new icon needed to have a contemporary appearance and effectively display in different screen resolutions and color profiles.

Design Solution

I created an icon that used OnDemand's most common graphic element, the instruction bubble. The icon for the Developer incorporates a pencil as an additional element to distinguish it from the Player icon, which uses only the bubble.

The table below shows the all of the icon profiles for the OnDemand Developer icon. Color profiles are defined by row and pixel size by column.

Design Challenge

OnDemand Software also needed a new file icon for an OnDemand topic file. The new icon needed to recognizable as an OnDemand content file without being confused with the icon for launching the main OnDemand application.

Design Solution

I created an icon that merged the OnDemand bubble with a page icon, commonly associated with the concept of a document.
